RICHARD MATTHEWS

Richard Matthews brings extensive experience across the defence, engineering, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, gained through a career spanning more than thirty-four years.

His experience includes functional, technical, operational and senior leadership roles across four continents, including service within the British Army and positions with GEC Marconi, BAE Systems Electronics Limited, British Aerospace PLC, AECOM and as an independent defence and engineering contractor.

Throughout his career, Richard has worked with government departments, defence organisations, prime contractors and leading international businesses. His experience includes working with several governments, BAE Systems, QinetiQ, Raytheon, the UK Ministry of Defence and other national defence ministries.

Richard brings a broad strategic understanding of defence capability, complex engineering programmes, organisational development and international business. He has significant experience shaping organisations, building teams, delivering specialist products and services, and managing resources across short-, medium- and long-term business cycles.

As Group Chief Executive Officer, Richard is responsible for the vision, strategy and long-term development of ARMEXIS and its subsidiaries. His role includes setting the strategic direction of the Group, developing key partnerships, overseeing major business decisions and ensuring the organisation remains focused on sovereign capability, industrial growth and delivery excellence.

Richard is a Master of Engineering, having studied Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at several academic institutions, including Brunel University.

In 2007, Richard was awarded the “Most Outstanding Exporter” Award by UK Trade & Investment, recognising his contribution to international trade and export development.

Richard sits on the Board of Directors, is a shareholder and is a co-founder of the Group.
